Frequently asked questions
Got an extra question about this template? Take a read of the FAQs, you'll likely find it here.
The "Welding Company" section requires the name of the company performing the welding works. The "Welding Supervisor" section needs the name of the supervisor overseeing the welding activities. These details ensure clear identification and accountability for the welding operations on site.
A welding supervisor must have completed an AS 2214 Certificate 10 or AS 1796 certification, served an apprenticeship in a relevant metal trade with a minimum of 5 years of experience in welded steel structures, or hold a Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or higher in Engineering or Metallurgy with at least 3 years of experience. This ensures the supervisor is adequately qualified to oversee the welding works.
The welders' qualifications must be checked and recorded. Their qualifications should be available on-site for review by the welding inspector. This ensures that all welders are appropriately certified and competent to perform the structural welding tasks.
The welding inspector's role is to inspect the welding works and ensure they meet the required standards. The inspector must not be involved in the supervision of the welding works. The inspector's name, approval notes, and comments should be documented, along with the signature of the builder's approver. This ensures an independent and thorough review of the welding quality and compliance.
