Our story
We started this adventure in 2021 with the goal of eliminating construction headaches. In just a few years, we've helped hundreds of builders streamline their operations, grown our team from 2 to 40+, and have set our sights on becoming the first AI-powered operating system for construction sites. Matt Perrott
Switching from civil engineering into the software world, Matt has always been fascinated by construction tech. Most of his time is spent with builders and subcontractors brainstorming better ways to manage safety, but when he's not he'll be finding his way to the coast for a surf.
Aaron Vanston
From marketing to web design to engineering leadership, Aaron's diverse tech background spans leading large teams at REA Group and SEEK. Now he's applying this wealth of experience to revolutionise construction tech with innovative solutions.
Caylie McDonald
A proud generalist with experience spanning strategy, operations, finance, customer experience, mergers and acquisitions, law and regulation, data analysis, sales and cold calling, advocacy and marketing. Caylie is passionate about working with customer-first businesses who are interested in leveraging smart design and under-utilised data to disrupt markets and create blue oceans.
Thomas Schwarz
After seven years at Victoria Police, Tom joined BuildPass to help the team scale smarter and build faster with AI. A natural systems thinker, he’s passionate about improving processes and believes if a task needs to be done twice, it’s worth building a tool to do it better.
James Formica
James has a knack for bringing designs to life on the web as BuildPass’ (self appointed) Chief of Frontend. He enjoys building intuitive and meaningful experiences for our users and where possible, sneaks in a bit of fun too. You’ll often find those in close proximity to James wearing headphones to drown out his out-loud debugging.
Tom Walters
Hailing from the small country town of Eildon, there’s no problem too small for Tom and he’s always up for a challenge. When he’s not pounding the keys, you’ll find him relaxing with his cat Goose and enjoying various sports, particularly Ultimate Frisbee!
Jon Cleary
Jon, or “JC”, has been writing software for fifteen years, leading engineering teams and championing back end architecture as a Principal Software Developer at SEEK and now BuildPass. JC is a busy father of two daughters, a volunteer firefighter with the CFA and enjoys mountain bike riding and snowboarding.
Hugh Rayner
My journey from creative writing to civil engineering to software has equipped me with a versatile skill set; and I love tackling complex challenges and turning them into elegant solutions. Passionate about staying close to customers and pushing the boundaries. As a professional hobby dabbler, outside of BuildPass you’ll find me hiking, bouldering, or painting a watercolour en plein air.
